A splendid film of Fernando Fernan Gomez, that mixes comedy, drama and intrigue
In a small village of provinces, close to the capital, lives a family of three members: the dominant and serious "Ignacia" (Tota Alba) and two brothers timid and receding, called "Paquita" (Rafaela Aparicio) and "Venancio" (Jesus Franco). The life monotonous of the village is only broken on Saturdays, when a whole musical of Madrid "Los Guacamayos", comes to entertain with their songs the weekend. A Saturday of a storm, "Paquita" and "Venancio", timid, hear noises and are directed toward the room of her sister. There believe view a fourth person. His sister "Ignacia" denies "El extraño viaje" is a magnificent portrait of the time, where the village and its people are photographed without hiding any of the extravagant, whims and secrets that shared by all the Spaniards. It is a film that mixes terror, comedy, drama, and thriller, based distantly in an actual event called "the crime of Mazarrón", and the argument occurred to him to the master Luis G.
